
A Complete Unknown
As lead designer, I worked hand-in-hand with Global Media's marketing team and Searchlight Pictures to craft a compelling competition landing page for "A Complete Unknown." The project required tactful working around one-off challenges, that is, around brand guidelines.
Not having official brand guidelines in place, I took a forward-thinking approach by working in partnership with colorist of the film to use actual color palettes taken straight from film. This was a key design element incorporating warm ambers, cool green hues, and deep burgundy hues visible in final layout. The design features a dramatic hero section using bold imagery of lead character playing a guitar, creating instant visual impact.
The landing page was separated into distinct areas:
Competition entry form
Premiere event information
Social media connectivity (#ACompleteUnknown)
Standout "Book Tickets" call-to-action
Working in close consultation with social team, a pre-launch engagement approach was created using film clip over static graphics to maintain film's mystique. This was in keeping in line perfectly with the documentary's true-life story style.
